Silicon is a beneficial plant nutrient found in all soils but not usually in a hydroponic solution. It strengthens the cell walls helping plants to resist pests and diseases. It also increases chlorophyll production and carbon dioxide uptake and so can help to produce a stronger, healthier plant.
